I am a second year microbiology student at the UPR-Humacao. I am the oldest of three; therefore, I serve as a role model to my younger siblings. Moreover, I feel a very strong commitment to my family, my country and myself. Not only that, but I want to make important contributions to society. Accordingly, after I graduate my main career objective is to obtain a PhD in microbiology and conduct research that furthers knowledge promoting curiosity and creativity. This is because I am really passionate about the study of microorganisms. I find amazing and deeply interesting the many and complex things an organism of such miniature size can do.

Meanwhile, as an undergraduate student I am taking all the steps necessary to accomplish my goals.  Another step towards my success as a college student and future scientist is being part of the Bio-MINDS program. This research project is giving me a closer look at the scientific environment and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on how research is made. Also, this program will give me the opportunity to get to know students, from other institutions, with similar interests and passions.
